Waterless Printing

We are one of the few, if not the only printers in Central Florida to offer waterless printing. We now print all of our process color work waterless at 300 line screen. We will soon have our catalog ready for you to see for yourself what a difference waterless printing can make...especially at 300 line screen. The results are absolutely breathtaking. Fill out a Catalog Request Form with your information and we will send it to you at soon as it becomes available.

Waterless printing delivers superior reproduction to conventional printing. More tonal contrast. More shades of color. More saturation in every area. Finer detail throughout. Greater color fidelity. Better shadows and highlights. Less dot gain. Sharper color.

How is this possible?

By eliminating fountain solution and using special plates, ink is easier to control. It's a simple fact, ink and water do not mix. Emulsification reduces vibrancy and so does alcohol.

All inks have vehicle and pigment. Water destroys ink in the process of getting it to paper. Waterless printing delivers the ink direct to the paper without dilution, so colors are brighter, more dynamic and much cleaner than with traditional methods. What are the advantages of 300 line screen waterless printing?

Greater customer satisfaction
Brighter, cleaner, saturated and more vibrant colors
Smoother blends and gradations
Tints so fine you would swear they were spot color
A dot pattern that is virtually invisible to the naked eye
Greater detail in photographs and illustrations
Greater control of color balance
Faster make readies and less down time
Quicker drying times and lower heat buildup
Higher efficacy and reduced paper waste
Cleaner printing with no water spots
Less dot gain and better definition
The most environmentally friendly printing process available

Our waterless presses also have high-speed dryers and coating towers. We use a specially developed aqueous coating that protects the printed material, enhances the color and speeds the drying time so jobs can be backed up faster. Once you've tried waterless printing at 300 line screen, you and your clients will accept nothing less. The difference is that dramatic!

It's clear what waterless printing means to you: more intense colors, enhanced detail, greater customer satisfaction and it's much better for the environment. So be on the cutting edge--order waterless printing for your next job. Not only will your work look better, but so will you.

300 Line Screen

Hard as it may be to imagine, waterless printing is an easier process to operate than conventional printing. So easy, in fact, we are able to offer 300 lines per inch as our standard ruling. Typical printing companies offer150 or sometimes 175 line screen. While these screen values are acceptable as a traditional industry standard, consider the possibilities of a dot pattern twice as fine as 150 line screen. The dot pattern is virtually invisible to the naked eye, unlike 150 or even 175 line screen printing.Waterless printing offers other results you can see with the naked eye. But even more fascinating is what you can see up close...under magnification.

Dot Gain: A difference you can see!

Conventional Printing Dot Pattern
In this side by side enlargement, one can clearly see the difference in dot gain between conventional printing and waterless printing. With conventional offset lithography, ink sits on top of a raised plateau on the printing plate. To transfer ink from this raised image area to the press sheet, conventional printing uses fountain solution (a complex mixture of chemicals). This produces dots that are larger and less round. The result is known as dot gain.

Waterless Printing Dot Pattern

With waterless printing, ink sits in a recessed image area on the printing plate. To transfer ink from this "valley" to your press sheet requires no fountain solution. This is why it's called "waterless." Waterless produces dots that are a more accurate reproduction of the film which generated them. With Waterless there is less dot gain. What's more, the waterless plate can transfer even more ink. That's why images look so sharp, saturated and colorful.

Scanning Spectro Densitometer

The waterless presses are equipped with Komori PDC-S Closed-Loop Scanning Spectro Densitometers. It's a mouth full, we know, but it's worth it.

This system allows us to scan color density directly from the press sheet. With that information we can use the system's computerized technology to balance the press color by color, ink key by ink key automatically. The result is unbelievably consistent color across the sheet and throughout the press run.

Once ink densities are established during a job's press check, the data is fed into the Color Management System to ensure consistent color throughout the press run. That means consistent quality and consistent color from the first sheet off the press to the last sheet in the run.

All of the data developed for each print job is downloaded and stored with plates, negatives and PressMatch materials. So when you reorder, you get the same colors and the same quality as your original order. Now that's something.

State-of-the-art Equipment

The new Komori L528 5-color press provided unparalleled quality printing for our customers near and far. Its computerized features allowed us to produce brighter color images, print jobs quicker, reduce paper waste and keep records of color settings for reprinting jobs in the future.

We have replaced our 5-color press with an L628 6-color press. We've added 2 Komori L420 4-color press and a Komori L228 2-color press. With the addition of our Austin location, we also have a Komori L640 6-color press.

Today, with our waterless presses and state-of-the-art color technology, new standards for the industry are being set. In addition to waterless presses, the prepress department utilizes state-of-the-art PostScript Level 3 imagesetting systems from Agfa. The 300 line screen, 3600 dpi imagesetting technology is the perfect complement to our Komori waterless presses.

These are the most automated presses in the area. From robotic plate-loading to closed-loop scanning spectro densitometers, these presses are optimized to render the highest quality, consistent color printing imaginable. The waterless film-to-plate technology gives us greater artistic control over issues of color, balance and fine tuning of your printed pieces than digital direct-to-plate technology.

The staff is led by a team of craftsmen with years of experience in the printing trade. The rare combination of technologically, skilled enthusiasts and artistic craftsmen set us apart from the competition. And what's more important, we plan ahead to provide our talented people with the best technology money can buy.

It can be said without hesitation that we have equipped ourselves to become the industry leader in waterless printing technology.

Our Commitment to Waterless

When waterless printing was added to the operation, we realized right away that this was the direction to go. The quality was amazing, the color was brilliant, the technology was exciting and we felt we could offer our customers something they couldn't get anywhere else. Since that moment, we have made a commitment to waterless printing.

There are a number of waterless presses across the nation, but few offer a commitment to full time waterless production at 300 line screen. Waterless presses are capable of printing by conventional means as well as waterless and many printing companies choose to split their production. Not us! We want to produce the best, highest quality printing we can...full time.

Due to the volume of printing we have produced since going waterless, and our commitment to printing all of our process work at 300 line screen, new industry standards have been set which would take other companies months, if not years, to match.

What about the Environment?

If superior reproduction doesn't convince you to print everything waterless, maybe this will: waterless is the most environmentally friendly printing process available.
With waterless printing, alcohol, fountain solutions and other pollutants are eliminated. There's less ink and paper waste, fewer airborne emissions and a lower cost of running. Waterless also works perfectly with recycled or less expensive paper. In addition, the presses are EPA approved and Y2K compliant.
